The best time of your life may still be ahead of you but it won’t just magically show up, you have to create it. It’s in your power to create whatever future you want for your life. Even if your best days are truly behind you, you can still have plenty of great days ahead of you if you decide to make it so.
It’s not action, it’s consistent action that will change your life. Anyone can do what they should be doing once or every now and then but it is those who do it consistently who get the results most people are after but never get.
The first thing is to keep in mind that your rate of progress will fluctuate and is often times much higher in the beginning. In fact, there will even be some weeks where you’ll go in reverse in terms of progress. Don’t let that phase you. Keep at it.
The acid I’d taken that day made the event seem gruesome, I’d seen two guys not too far off from where I sat with my friends kicking something like a soccer ball then seen them ride away with one new bike in tow. I do not possess the depth required to explain what seeing or acting in violence does to the brain on LSD. It had erupted just like the dodgeball game that was still going in full force in spite of the disturbance.
I for one wanted to hear it from someone who was imperfect like myself. The people that I had seen today gave me no more insight into their current situation than I hadn’t initially known. It appeared that there were so many reasons scattered everywhere to why these people were homeless. It was so difficult to pinpoint when I began to interview Kyle I felt like I had all the wrong questions. Here I was, playing video games with a bum, high on drugs and not making any progress on my paper whatsoever, I thought.
Unfortunately, as 10:00PM rolled around I was becoming increasingly desperate and due to a bottle of rum I’d purchased for Careful beforehand which in his absence and my personal discomfort with my surroundings I’d be sipping discretely.
Note: The word “kill” in this song isn’t used in the literal sense. It’s used synonymously to doing an awesome job such as going into an interview or doing a performance and ‘killin’ it’.
The winner of a race wasn’t born to win that race, they made a conscious decision to do so and put in the effort to make it happen. People who end up in rehab or jail weren’t destined to be there from birth; they got there by continually making the wrong decisions and sticking to the wrong path.
You can have the motivation to start taking a lot of action but if you don’t truly believe you can accomplish your goals, you’ll eventually stop and end up saying, “I knew I couldn’t do it.” When you let negative thoughts control you, you’ll start to doubt yourself and your motivation will plummet. Try reading positive material and filling your mind with confident thoughts. If possible, hire a coach or find someone who has achieved the results you want to help you out.
Achieving a major goal can be hard enough on its own and when you have too many goals, your focus is scattered. Often times, you end up not achieving any of them. Of course when this happens, the disappointing results can zap your motivation. It’s often better to just choose one goal so you can put all of your focus on it and achieve it than to spread yourself too thin and end up not achieving anything.
Having to work at a job they don’t particular love isn’t something most people are excited about. In fact, it sucks. But the reality is, being financially stressed all the time also sucks.
I’d like to know what you do to keep your focus on your goal. Please share them in the comments section.
First of all, you have to figure out exactly why you want to achieve your goal/dream in the first place. Is it really your dream or someone else’s? Is it something that you really, truly want or something you think you want because you see a bunch of other people going for the same thing?
The “right things” can vary depending on the goal. In some cases, it could mean getting to know the right people while in other cases it could mean working for the right company or hiring the right people. Whatever those key things are, figure out what it is and apply them.
First, there would be the “Done” family; you know, “Should Have,” “Would Have” and “Could Have.” Then came the “I Had” family. You probably know old “Wish” and his clan. Of course, the “Opportunities” family; “Missed and Lost,” would be present. The biggest family there would be the “Yesterday’s.”
Your decision to make a change will really come down to whether or not you’re willing to let go of what’s comfortable in order to experience a life that you really want. Change can be scary but the good news is that once you make the change and stick with it for a while, it’ll become your new comfort zone.
Now if you’ve found some value in reading these quotes in the past, continue to but try making them more effective by putting in the effort to follow through on whatever motivation, inspiration, or lesson you get out of them.
When you love what you do, you will naturally give it everything you have and will therefore have a higher chance of succeeding. This isn’t required to succeed at a high level but it helps.
The son answered, “I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden; they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden; they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard; they have a whole horizon.” When the little boy was finished, his father was speechless. His son added, “Thanks, Dad, for showing me how ‘poor’ we are!”
